The Hacker's Guide is the first complete state-by-state golf course rating system since golf was invented. The first guide, Hacker's Guide to Twin Cities Golf Courses, was introduced in early 2009, and it contains all of eighty-seven 18-hole public golf courses in the Twin Cities. The next book, Hacker's Guide to Minnesota & Western Wisconsin Golf Courses, will contain 300-400 golf course reviews and will be available in December.

According to the National Golf Foundation only 22% of all golfers scored better than 90 for 18 holes. The average 18-hole score was 97 for men and 114 for women with an even 100 strokes per eighteen average. Only 6% of men and 1% of women golfers say they break 80 regularly. These numbers haven't change very much for many years. Of the estimated 24 million golfers in the United States, 18.7 million would be considered hacker's.
Today, only two guides, Golf Digest and Zagat’s, even attempts to review golf courses. Both only rate a small percentage of courses that exist today (less than 25%), they speak to good golfers not hackers, and their rating systems leave as many questions as answers if you are looking to play a new course.
If you are a hacker, you’ve found a home with the Hacker's Guides. Real Reviews by Real People.
